AHU
An Air Handling Unit (AHU) is a machine used in HVAC systems to circulate, filter, cool, or heat air inside buildings.
An AHU is like the “lungs” of a building. It:
- Pulls air from the building
- Cleans it using filters
- Cools or heats the air
- Blows the conditioned air back through the ducts
This keeps rooms comfortable and fresh.
Types of AHUs
Common types include:
- Floor mounted AHU
- Ceiling suspended
- Packaged AHU
- Clean room AHU
Where AHUs are used
AHUs are used in large buildings, such as:
- Shopping malls
- Airports
- Hospitals
- Hotels
- Factories
- Office buildings
Basically anywhere central air conditioning is required.
How Airflow Works
- Return air comes from the room
- Fresh air is mixed with it
- Air passes through filters
- Air is cooled or heated
- Fan sends the air through ducts to rooms
- Air is evenly distributed through diffusers
- Used air returns back to the system for circulation.
