DIDW Fans
DIDW stands for Double Inlet Double Width centrifugal fans. These are a common type of centrifugal fan used when very high air volume is required at moderate pressure.

1. What DIDW Means
- Double Inlet → Air enters from both sides of the impeller.
- Double Width → The impeller width is twice that of a single-width fan.
- So essentially it is like two centrifugal fans combined into one impeller, drawing air from both sides.
2. Construction
Main components:
- Impeller (Double Width)
- Two inlet cones
- Fan housing/scroll
- A shaft running through the center
- Bearings on both sides
- Drive (belt drive or direct drive)
3. Typical Applications
- DIDW fans are widely used in:
- Air Handling Units (AHU)
- HVAC systems
- Evaporative cooling plants
- Dust collection systems
- Industrial ventilation
- Boiler FD fans (some designs)
- Because they handle large airflow with smooth distribution.
4. Advantages
- Very high airflow capacity
- Compact design for large volume
- Better airflow distribution
- Lower noise compared to single inlet fans
- Balanced loading on the shaft
